We’re working with a NYC-based wealth-tech startup, backed by major investors, on a mission to democratize elite financial advice for the masses. Now they’re building out their AI/ML core—and they need a Senior Applied AI Engineer who can bring real-world intelligence into their platform.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
Until now, the team has done an incredible job getting the product to market. But to scale the next phase, they need more than just data scientists. They need an engineer who understands models, data inference, AI-powered recommendation systems—and how all of that connects directly to product experience.
The role isn’t about creating research papers. It’s about building smarter, faster, user-centric features where AI doesn’t just sit in the background but becomes a true driver of better financial decisions.
THE KIND OF WORK YOU'LL BE DOING
This isn't an "experiment and handoff" position. You’ll be responsible for:

Owning model selection, training, and tuning for production environments

Building real-time inference engines that work across diverse financial datasets

Designing AI systems that power core recommendation engines

Ensuring seamless integration between AI outputs and UI components

Working cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and engineers to make sure AI truly enhances the customer experience
This role sits at the intersection of applied AI and platform engineering—and the impact will be visible immediately.
THE PROFILE THAT FITS BEST
To succeed here, you’ll need technical excellence—and the instincts to move fast inside a growth-stage company where real users are depending on what you build.
What we’re looking for:

5+ years in applied AI, ML engineering, or related fields

Deep understanding of model deployment, inference, and feedback loops

Comfort with production-level systems, not just prototypes

Ability to integrate models directly into platform architecture

Clear communication and tight execution—without needing layers of oversight

Bonus if you have experience in wealth management, fintech, or consumer financial platforms
The team is hybrid, based in the Financial District (NYC) 3–4x per week. Compensation is highly competitive—$230K–$260K base plus equity.
