About the role

As Engineering Manager for our Ruby on Rails team, you'll lead development of our core data processing platform and API services. You'll manage a distributed team of engineers while setting technical direction for our Rails applications. Working closely with product and data science teams, you'll prioritize features that improve data collection workflows, validation processes, and delivery systems. You'll establish engineering standards, implement agile methodologies, and ensure system reliability while scaling to handle millions of business records. This role involves both technical leadership and people management, balancing code quality with business priorities while developing your team members' skills.

About your background and skills

Strong experience with Ruby on Rails in production environments, particularly for data-intensive applications. Track record of engineering leadership with proven ability to manage distributed teams. Expertise in API development, background processing, and database optimization. Experience with AWS infrastructure and continuous integration/deployment practices. Understanding of data quality processes and challenges in emerging markets beneficial. Excellent communication skills for bridging technical and business contexts. Ability to recruit, develop, and retain engineering talent. Strategic thinking to align technical decisions with company objectives. Comfortable working across time zones with team members in diverse locations. Passion for solving complex problems and bringing structure to previously unstructured data.

Compensation and benefits

$200,000-$230,000
