About the role

You'll architect the core backend systems forming our insurance API ecosystem from the ground up. Working alongside founders, you'll build scalable services handling everything from quote generation to policy issuance and claims processing. Your solutions will need to bridge traditional insurance systems with modern software platforms while maintaining regulatory compliance. You'll establish engineering practices, data models, and system architecture that form the foundation for future development. This position involves both technical implementation and strategic decision-making about technology choices that will shape our platform's evolution.

About your background and skills

Deep experience building production-grade API platforms or financial technology systems. Expert knowledge of backend technologies, distributed systems, and database design. Background implementing secure transaction systems with robust error handling. Understanding of API design principles and developer experience. Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerization technologies essential. Familiarity with insurance or regulated financial industries beneficial but not required. Strong security mindset and attention to detail. Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments while making pragmatic technical decisions. Passion for simplifying complex processes through elegant engineering solutions.
